Hi, I'm Randy Bourque

I am so glad you are reading this. I love taking pictures. I have been called "shutter happy" for many years. It's a "disorder" for which there is no cure.

Having served in the Air Force, as a Ground Radio Technician, then as an Electronic Installation Technician. with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for 18 years. With this background, you can see that I love aircraft and technology. I have been told it's a bug you catch and I caught it.

I would call myself a landscape photographer with an interest in capturing time as I record the journey so others can see the value of exploring around them.

My favorite Photo

Finding my favorite photo is rather difficult as my favorite would change as the seasons change.

Sometimes my favorite is one which I conquered and mastered a new technique which I had problems with just a few days earlier.

With that said, this photo is my favorite this month...haha. By next month I hope I will have taken a new photo that I love even more!

My Top Three Favorite National Parks

Grand Canyon National Park

There are literally millions of compositions to be found at the Grand Canyon, I could spend months there exploring with my camera.

Canyonlands National Park

I love taking photos in Canyonlands National Park. The views are spectacular.

Great Smoky Mountains NP

I love visiting Great Smokey Mountains in the the fall when the trees are at their peak.

What Photography Means To Me

Photography is telling a story worth repeating.

Someone said, a good picture is worth a thousand words. A picture truly tells a story.

You have the subject, aids to the subject and then distractions trying to take your focus off the subject. My goal is to minimize the distractions and focus on the subject. You do this in shapes, patterns, leading lines, reflections, rule of 3rd and symmetrics.

A picture truly tells a story, as in the photo in this section. This lighthouse, Pemaquid Point in Bristol, Maine. Originally commissioned in 1827 by President Andrew Jackson, yet in this story you see the reflections in the water with leading lines leading your eyes to the lighthouse sitting high on the rocks.

I truly believe that photography helps me enjoy my surroundings more. I have a new appreciation for the beauty of creation, and I love sharing that beauty with others through my photos. More than just an artistic outlet, photography has become a way for me to demonstrate that there is so much to richly enjoy and see that helps one get out and see it for yourself.
